Entrepreneur's Devotional: Day 8

Affirmation: “When My plans align with God’s will he provides the resources I need to thrive.”

Scripture: Romans 8:32

Song: (A version of) "I am" by James fortune ft. Deborah Haynes-Carolina

All day yesterday, God kept sending me the song “I AM,” reminding me that he is everything I need Him to be. He is the Great I Am, and he cares about me and what happens to me.

Remember in a previous devotional, I mentioned that I wasn’t feeling 100%. You can imagine the things that the enemy has been trying to speak to me about my health, my daughter’s health, the rest of my life. I have to admit, my faith has wavered more than once. But he kept sending me the same message “You’re whoever I need you to be; you’re the I am.” I couldn’t escape it, so I’ve changed my original topic to remind you that no matter what you’re facing in your life, whatever uncertainties you may be worried about in your business, God is THE I AM.

Whatever you find yourself in need of no matter the subject matter – health, family, finances, business – When you’re aligned with God’s will for your life and you trust in his plans for you, “The Great I AM” provides for you.

Our scripture for today reminds us that if God was willing to give his Son for us, why would he withhold anything else from us? If he’s generous enough to make that level of sacrifice for us, why would we think that he wouldn’t provide everything else we need? The Bible says that the Earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, so if it’s his to do as he pleases, certainly he is willing to share it with the children for whom He sent his Son to die, right?

The challenge lies in our ability to

  1. Align ourselves with His will and not our desires. How fervently in this season are you seeking him? With all the extra time you have, are you praying more? In scripture more? In this time, we should be seeking him for his directions and instructions. When we do that, when we’re in his will, he is obligated to provide for us. Why? Because that’s what his word says.

  2. Talk to him like he’s the father he is to us. These days, it’s ok to drop the pretenses. I don’t believe Abba cares whether you start it off right or make it a certain length. I think what he wants to hear from us is our voice. Now do I know this? Because one of the first things that happens to me when I’m stressed or not understanding what God is doing, I stop talking to him about it. I have no problem praying for others, but when it comes to me, I have a really difficult time. Well, in this season, going through what I’m going through, I have been forced to talk to him more. For me.

So many people have said that this is a period of time in which God is calling people back to himself. I can’t say that I disagree. There certainly are more people looking to Him now than ever before. I am one of them. I don’t believe he sent this, but perhaps he’s allowed this so that we’ll have no other choice but to look to him and re-position him in our lives as the I AM – as the provider of everything we need. What do you need from him today? What moves do you need to make in your life and in your business? I encourage you to seek him for yourself!
